11,000 kilometres for a good cause: babymarkt supports Aktion Canchanabury

The largest e-commerce player in the Ruhr region joins forces with the Bochum-based organisation Aktion Canchanabury to help those in need.

Bochum, 01 September 2021 +++ babymarkt.de GmbH is deeply rooted in the Ruhr region and identifies with the cultural values as well as the great pioneering spirit of the region. This is why the online shop for baby and toddler equipment has called the O-Werk in Bochum home for the past year. With the Canchanabury campaign, babymarkt relies on a local partner for sustainable social commitment.

Doing good step by step

“Do something, you lazy dog, but not for yourself, for the others!” – that was the motivation of Hans Reinhardt, founder of the Canchanabury campaign. No sooner said than done, because sporting ambition runs like a thread through babymarkt’s corporate culture. In order to collect donations for the aid organisation, babymarkt launched its own running challenge in the summer. Over a period of ten weeks, the more kilometres the babymarkt employees ran, the higher the amount donated.

Interview BastianThe Canchanabury campaign provides important development aid and deserves every support. We are pleased to be able to contribute with our running challenge and thus also help a Bochum-based company,” says Bastian Siebers, CEO of babymarkt.de GmbH. “The idea fits us perfectly, that’s why the team really made metres.

The running jerseys specially made for the charity run provided motivation and a sense of unity from start to finish. 161 employees of the online shop jointly covered 11,940 kilometres for the Bochum organisation. The decision on how to use the donation is left entirely to Aktion Canchanabury, because the money should go where it is most urgently needed.

Aktion Canchanabury turns 60 – and babymarkt celebrates with it

Aktion Canchanabury is celebrating its 60th anniversary in autumn and wants to use posters in Bochum to draw attention to the projects. Here, too, the people of Bochum are working together, as babymarkt is sponsoring the posters. “We are pleased to have won babymarkt as a supporter for our projects,” says Gerd Stegemann, Managing Director of Aktion Canchanabury. “What can be read on our posters also applies to the cooperation with babymarkt: Making a difference together in friendship.”
